7 Stunning Outdoor Richmond Wedding Venues You Need to See!

Hi friends! As a Richmond wedding photographer, I've had the opportunity to explore many venues in the area. I've decided to pull together a small list of my favorite outdoor venues in the Richmond, Virginia, area that would be wonderful for micro-weddings or just a smaller-than-average wedding! They are in no particular order, and it doesn’t mean that other venues aren’t beautiful as well. These are just a few of the Richmond wedding venues that I personally have photographed, and they made a good impression on me.

7 Richmond Wedding Venues to Add to Your Must-See List!

Maymont Park

Maymont Park in Richmond, Virginia, is extremely popular for portraits of all kinds. Still, only a few might want to have their wedding here. There are several excellent options for your ceremony, but the most common is the Italian Gardens. You can't really go wrong because there are just so many great spots! I have photographed numerous elopements and micro-weddings here, and it never disappoints.

White Oak Manor

This is my FAVORITE of the Richmond wedding venues on this list. It’s a little ways south of Richmond, but I had to include it. White Oak Manor is a brand new venue that opened up in Dinwiddie, VA, and it’s proving to be a top-tier venue for the timeless, classy, and chic bride.

The Interior of the manor is stunning, with numerous chandeliers, gorgeous natural light in every room, and a massive gold-detail mirror in the getting ready room. It’s truly a bride’s dream house for getting ready!

The reception space is equally impressive, with chandeliers and an ample open space.

They even have a little chapel on-site for your ceremony, among a few other options if you prefer your ceremony to be outdoors!

The Valentine Museum

The courtyard area of The Valentine Museum in Richmond is absolutely perfect for an intimate ceremony. The building itself is beautiful with its large white columns and brick walkways, but there are also several other charming spots to take your portraits. The deep red doors pictured below make a bold and romantic statement, and the winding staircase inside the building is also a lovely detail.

The Historic Polegreen Church

The Historic Polegreen Church in Hanover is such a unique little Richmond wedding venue! It's the perfect size to host a small and intimate ceremony. There are fewer portrait location options, but it still makes for a lovely option if you don't need a ton of variety. I just adore how distinctive and different it is from everything else and how you can be right out in the open air "inside" the church!

Strawberry Hill

The next location on the list is Strawberry Hill in Petersburg, Virginia. It's also a little south of Richmond, but I still wanted to include it!

This gorgeous bed and breakfast has so much history and character. I love all of the charming details scattered throughout the grounds! The venue owners also create stunning floral arrangements themselves, as pictured below. They also offer space for larger weddings, but I included it in this list because I think it would be an especially great option for an intimate celebration with your closest family and friends. I can just imagine a Jane Austen or other historical wedding theme taking place here!

The Historic Jasmine

The Historic Jasmine venue has 40+ acres of beautiful wooded and open field landscapes. The ceremony location pictured below is a gorgeous outdoor chapel at this Richmond wedding venue. There are so many beautiful little details within the venue that you just have to go and see for yourself! They offer several packages, from intimate, smaller weddings to larger weddings with 300 guests.

Virginia State Capital Building

Another wedding venue that's perfect for a smaller ceremony or elopement or just to take your wedding portraits if you’re nearby is the Virginia State Capital Building, a public building in Richmond. The grand white staircase and columns make for quite an elegant statement!
